Sandra Carol Nielsen, 60, of Poncha Springs died June 29, 2016, in her sleep with her husband at her side.

She had dealt with breast cancer for 14 years.

She was born in Buffalo, Minn., to Harold L. Lambert and Catherine A. Lambert.

She was raised in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Mrs. Nielsen had lived in the area since 2000.

She was a wife, mother and grandmother and managed to stay at home raising her children.

She worked “out” from time to time, usually in home health care, child care and house care, as “The Domestic Engineer.”

Friends and family said she loved Jesus, family and friends.

She attended Salida Vineyard Fellowship.

Mrs. Nielsen was preceded in death by her son, Gabriel Nielsen; sisters Susan and Mary Lambert; and parents-in-law, George and Margaret Nielsen.

Survivors include her husband, Mitch Nielsen; daughter, Cherish Francis; granddaughters, Mariah Enger and Avery Nielsen; her parents; five brothers; three sisters; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and other in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Nielsen donated her body to science.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 15, 2016, at Salida Vineyard Fellowship.

Attendees will share stories and food and reminisce about her.

Arrangements were with Science Care of Colorado.
